The experiment was designed to observe the effect of milk replacer on relieving weaning stress and assisting weak piglets in Guangming Syntietic Line Breeding Center of China.Firstly, 90 individuals which were weaned at 27 days and randomly assigned to experimental group and control group to study the effect of milk replacer on weaning stress. Piglets of the control group were only fed by granulate and additional milk replacer were added in the experimental group. The result showed that the average daily weight gain of piglets in experimental group was 16.2% more than that in control group and the ratio between feed and weight increased significantly. Meanwile, the degree of diarrhoea of piglets decreased sharply in experimental group was much quieter than those from control group. All these showed weaning stress, in some degree,was relieved by milk replacer treatment.Then the effect of milk replacer on assisting weak piglets was investigated. Both of experimental group and control group 1 were made up of weak piglets(average birth weight < 1.1kg), and control group 2 were made up of normal piglets(average birth weight > 1.3kg), respectively, and the weak piglets were fed by milk replacer in experiment group from seven days after birth to six days after weaning(34 days).The results showed after weaning, the weight gain of piglets increased before weaning and weaning stress was relieved compared to two control groups. While, the weight gain of piglets in experimental group and control group 2 were no different from 35 days to 44 days. It indicated that the well compensation growth of weak piglets was appeared by supplement of milk replacer.
