Study On The Identification Of RADIX NOTOGINSENG And Its Counterfeits By UASLG Method

ObjectiveTo establish a method for distinguishing RADIX NOTOGINSENG from its counterfeitsincluding RHIZOMA ALPINIAE OFFCINARUM, RHIZOMA BLETILLAE, RHIZOMACURCUMAE LONGAE and RHIZOMA CURCUMAE by ultraviolet absorption spectraLines group (UASLG). This is also agoal of modemization for Chinese tradition medicine.MethodsThe5kinds of medicines were extracted with five different solvents of water, ethanol,petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and chloroform. Then, their absorbance in UV and one-orderderivative spectra was measured.ResultsThere were obvious differences regarding peak position and absorbance in ultravioletabsorption spectra among RADIX NOTOGINSENG, RHIZOMA ALPINIAE OFFCINARUM,RHIZOMA BLETILLAE, RHIZOMA CURCUMAE LONGAE and RHIZOMACURCUMAE.ConclusionThe method was simple and accurate, and could be used to distinguish RADIXNOTOGINSENG from its counterfeits.
