Purposes/Objectives:The present research work was designed to analyze the prognostic factors ofMetachronous colorectal liver metastases and the differences among thecurative efficacies of distinct curative methods as well as provide referencefor clinical treatment of the metachronous colorectal liver metastases. Methods:Clinical data of160hospitalized colorectal liver metastases patients inFujian Provincial Hospital during a10-year period from1stJanuary,1999to1stDecember,2008were retrospectively reviewed and followed up. Log-rankmodel was used to analyze the prognostic factors and probe into thedifferences among the curative efficacies of surgical resection pluschemotherapy, transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE),hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAI), palliative chemotherapy andtraditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).Results:There are160cases in total, in which there are98male cases, accounting for61.25per cent, and62female cases, accounting for39.75per cent. Theproportion of male and female patients (1.58:1) indicates that more malepatients than female patients. The average age is56-year-old within age rangefrom21years old to86years old. Moreover, the predominance of moderatelydifferentiated colon cancer was accounted for46.5per cent. It is possible todefine the diagnostic criterion of colorectal liver metastases according torelated radiographic characteristics/features as well as the medical history ofcolon cancer. The patients’ gender, age, histological type of the primary tumor, the degree ofdifferentiation of tumor, primary tumor site, preoperative carcinoembryonicantigen (CEA) level, sites of liver metastases, quantity, size, curative methodsof tumor and lifetime etc. are recorded in the paper. In the record, there are62cases of surgical resection of liver metastases plus chemotherapy which wasaccounted for38.75per cent; there are91cases, from January,2003toDecember,2008, were followed up to December2013, which indicated thesurvival rate of30per cent among these three years. The univariate Log-rank analyses of prognosis pointed out that the patients’gender, age, histological type of the primary tumor, the degree ofdifferentiation of tumor, primary tumor site, sites of liver metastases, quantity, size have little effect on survival after prognosis, the preoperativecarcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level, curative methods of liver metastases, time of the occurrence of liver metastases, Lymphovascular Invasion, thenumber of lymph node metastasis have some influence on the prognosis. Conclusions:The moderately differentiated colon cancer is predominantly among the casesof colorectal liver metastases. The univariate Log-rank analyses of prognosispointed out that the patients’ gender, age, histological type of the primarytumor, the degree of differentiation of tumor, primary tumor site, sites of livermetastases, quantity, size have no significant effect on survival after prognosis, the preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level, curative methods ofliver metastases, time of the occurrence of liver metastases, LymphovascularInvasion, the number of lymph node metastasis have some influence on theprognosis. Furthermore, the curative efficacy of surgical resection pluschemotherapy seems better for the patients.
