ObjectiveTo assist the diagnosis, guide the clinical treatment and estimate the prognosis of diabetic macular edema(DME) by means of investigate the relationship between optical coherence tomography(OCT)and visual electrophysiological examination of the macular region in DME.MethodsA total of33diabetic macular edema patients (56eyes) were randomly selected as the observation group. And a total of30diabetic patients (52eyes) who didn’t suffer from diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema were randomly selected as the control group. Two groups underwent complete ophthalmological examination, which included measurement of best-corrected visual acuity, macular fovea’s OCT,flash-electroretinograms (F-ERG) and pattern visual evoked potentials (P-VEP).Results①The thickness of Retinal Neurepithelium Layer:The difference between the observation group (322.07±91.80μm) and control group (165.77±22.20μm) had statistically significant (P<0.001).②Best-corrected Visual Acuity:Compared to the control group, the best-corrected visual acuity of the observation group was significantly Reduced (P<0.001).③P-VEP:Compared to the control group, the amplitudes of the P100waves in the observation group were significantly smaller(P<0.001),and the peak times of the P100waves were significantly lengthened(P<0.001).④Dark adaptation F-ERG: Compared to the control group, the peak times of the a and b waves in the observation group were all significantly lengthened(P<0.001),the amplitudes of the a waves were significantly smaller(P<0.01),the amplitudes of the b waves were significantly smaller(P<0.001).ConclusionsThe difference of macular region changes and view function between the observation group and control group had statistically significant.Optical coherence tomography and visual electrophysiological examination is favourable in the clinical treatment and following observavation of diabetic macular edema. The combination of OCT and visual electrophysiological examination may play an important role in the diagnosis、pathogenetic condition evaluation and prognosis of DME.
