Objective:1、To investigate the alteration of right ventricular global and regionalvolume and systolic function in patients with atrial septal defect(ASD) using real-timethree-dimensional echocardiography;2、Discussion the correlation between the rightventricular volume measured by RT-3DE and the maximum diameter of the atrialseptal defect(ASD-d) and right ventricular diameter(RV-d) measured by routineechocardiography in ASD patients;3、Try to analyze the right ventricular global andregionalvolume and function in patients with ASD after operation.Methods:3-Dimensional full-volume Images were obtained respectively in30normal control subjects and30ASD patients. To measure and compare the two groupsof the global and regional right ventricular end-diastolic volume(EDV),end-systolicvolume(ESV),systolic volume(SV) and ejection fraction(EF) using analysissoftware(Tom Tec4D-RV). Discussion the correlation between the right ventricularvolume measured by RT-3DE and the maximum diameter of the atrial septal defect(ASD-d) and right ventricular diameter (RV-d) measured by routine echocardiographyin ASD patients. Compare of the global and regional right ventricular volume andsystolic function of8patients with ASD before and after operation. Results: RV global and regional EDV, ESV, and SV were larger(P<0.001orP=0.001),RV global andregional systolic function in inflowwas lower(all P<0.001) inthe ASD group than in the normal. RV global and regional EDV、ESV in the body andinflow were positively correlated with ASD-d and RV-d measured byroutineechocardiography in ASD patients.(r=0.386-0.465and0.364-0.499,all P<0.05).RVglobal and regional EDV、ESV in the body and inflow reduced(all P<0.05),and theEF of body regionimproved significant (P<0.05) after operation in patients withASD. Conclusions: In patients with ASD, RV global and regional volume was enlarged andsystolic function was impaired differently, the volume of the body and inflow regionincreased significantly. Due to the inflow region was most sensitive to capacityload, the systolic function was impaired earliest and most significant. RV global andregional volume in the body and inflow were positively correlated with RV Capacityload, RV global and regional volume reduced and systolic function improvedsignificant after operation in patients with ASD.
