Objective:1. To investigate the expression of IL-17A^IL-17F in ovarian epithelial carcinoma and normal ovarian tissues.2. To analyze the relationship between IL-17A> IL-17F expression and clinical characteristics and MVD in ovarian epithelial carcinoma and to detect the potential mechanism.3. To investigate the impact of IL-17A^IL-17F on patients’survival.Methods:1. Immunohistochemical method was performed in76malignant ovarian tumors,20borderline ovarian tumors,10benign ovarian tumors and10normal ovarian tissues to investigate the IL-17A> IL-17F expression.2. The microvessel density (MVD) in ovarian epithelial carcinoma was detected by CD105immunohistochemical staining and then correlated with the IL-17A、IL-17F expression.3. The clinical data was collected for the survival analysis with IL-17A^IL-17F in ovarian epithelial carcinoma patients.Results:1. IL-17A and IL-17F showed high-level expression in ovarian cancer tissue, and the Spearman correlation from rank analysis demonstrated that the IL-17A expression in ovarian cancer tissue was positively correlated with CD105expression (rs=0.335, P<0.05),IL-17F expression was negatively correlated with CD105expression (rs=-0.232,P<0.05).2. IL-17A and IL-17F expression in ovarian cancer tissue was positively correlated with histologic grade(Ⅰ-Ⅱ, Ⅲ-Ⅳ), remote metastasis and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).3.The MVD expression in IL-17A positive expression group (4.75±2.09) was significantly higher than that in IL-17A negative expression group (3.28±1.66)(P<0.05), the MVD expression in IL-17F positive expression group (4.06±1.91) was significantly higher than that in IL-17F negative expression group (5.22±2.23)(P<0.05).4. Univariate survival analysis showed that histologic grade(Ⅰ-Ⅱ, Ⅲ-Ⅳ)(P<0.05), remote metastasis(P<0.05) and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05), IL-17A expression and IL-17F expression were prognostic factors in ovarian cancer(P<0.05). In the multivariate survival analysis, IL-17A expression, IL-17F expression and histologic grade(Ⅰ-Ⅱ, Ⅲ-Ⅳ) were significant independent prognostic factors(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. IL-17A and IL-17F expression in ovarian epithelial carcinoma was correlated with tumor malignancy which plays an important role in tumor metastasis. The two biomarkers might be the indicators for judging the biological behavior of ovarian cancer.2. The expression levels of IL-17A and IL-17F was associated with tumor angiogenesis, which form a balance in regulating tumor angiogenesis, and was an independent prognostic factor in ovarian cancer.
