Turmeric, also known as Dioscorea zingiberensis, is one of the most important plant sources of hormone drugs. The diosgenin content in Turmeric is highest in the world. Diosgenin is important basic raw materials to synthesize steroid hormone drugs. Steroid hormone drugs have strong anti-infective, anti-allergic, anti-virus and anti-shock pharmacological effects, is an important medication to treat rheumatism, cardiovascular, lymphatic leukemia, cell encephalitis, skin diseases, anti-tumor and rescue of critically ill patients. As an intermediate in the synthesis of steroid hormone drugs, diosgenin has great economic value and market potential. In particular, high purity diosgenin is important to obtain reliable quality steroid hormone drugs. In this paper, turmeric hydrolyzate as an object, a new method of diosgenin refining process have been studied from the extraction and crystallization process, the main research content is as follows:(1) Optimize the process parameters of diosgenin extracted from turmeric hydrolyzate. Based on the crystal purity and precipitation rate, the extraction of diosgenin from turmeric hydrolyzate by solvents were studied to determine the optimal process conditions. The crude sapogenin yield reached10%, with a purity of about50%. Process optimization is conducive to the subsequent refining process.(2) Research on the dissolution characteristics of diosgenin in conventional solvents. Balance methods were used to determine the solubility of diosgenin in seven different organic solvents. It provides important basic data for diosgenin crystallization process design and optimization parameters.(3) The cooling crystallization processes of diosgenin were studied systematically. Examined the impact of crystallization temperature, cooling rate, standing time, stirring rate and other factors on the yield and purity of the product, and ultimately determined the crystallization process method for the industrial application of a suitable product purity of99%, crystallization yield more than70%. In order to improve the refining process yields, on the basis of the primary crystallization, further study of the secondary crystallization process and the joint process were explored, product quality and yield have reached the desired objectives.
