Clinical Observation Of "Bushen Jiedu Decoction" In Treating Myelodysplastic Syndrome(MDS)

ObjectiveMyelodysplastic Syndrome(MDS) is a kind of malignant tumor of blood system, as the abnormal clone of hematopoietic stem cells, it maybe appears dysplasis, its main clinical manifestations are anemia, bleeding and so on, also have high risk to acute leukemia, so known as the early stage of the leukemia. Although it is a malignant disease, but the course and prognosis of MDS patients have great differences. A majority of MDS patients remained in a state of anemia, bleeding, the quality of life is greatly decreased, so the target in the treatment of MDS is reducing the complications related to anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and maintaining a better quality of life. So far, Western medicine has no special treatment, but many doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine concluded that use notifying kidney and spleen, clearing heat, activating blood to treat the patients of MDS, can get a clear curative effect, my supervisor has rich experience in treating blood diseases, we find that using bushen jiedu to treat MDS also can improve the patients" clinical syndromes, the physical and chemical inspection index and response rate. So, we design this research scheme, in order to looking for new ways for the treatment of MDS, achieving a better curative effect and better quality of life.MethodsWe collect30patients according with the stander of our research scheme, then randomly divided them into control group and treatment group, control group were taking Ciclosporin and Testosterone undecanote, on the basis of control group’s treatments, others taking bushen jiedu decoction, 1month is a treatment course, after3months, we observe the efficiency and change of indicators between the two groups.Results1. There is significant statistical difference in efficiency between control group and treatment group (P<0.05).2.There is significant statistical difference in improving clinical symptoms(P<0.05), especially for fatigue, qi deficiency, shortness of breath, palpitations and chest distress, dizzy, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, bleeding.3.There is significant statistical difference in improving the number of white blood cells, hemoglobin, platelet and neutrophils between control group and treatment group (P<0.05).4.There is no significant statistical difference in decreasing bone marrow blast cells and improving bone marrow hyperplasia(P>0.05).ConelusionThe study result show that bushen jiedu decoction with western medicine can improve the clinical syndromes of patients with MDS, the physical and chemical inspection index and response rate, but, can not decrease primitive bone marrow cells and improve bone marrow hyperplasia. As the insufficiency of case, time and other support condition, whether bushen jiedu decoction for treating MDS have long-term clinical curative effect, still needed further large-scale clinical and experimental research to confirm it.
