An Investigation And Analysis Of Nurse’s Sharp Injury In The Tertiary Hospitals In Lhasa

Objectives:(1)To understand the current situation of sharp injuries among clinical nurses in tertiary hospitals in Lhasa and analyze its main characteristics and related factors.(2)To providing scientific basis on improving the level of the whole Lhasa nurses’ knowledge of occupational safety and reducing the occurrence of sharp injury.Methods:This study is a retrospective investigation.It utilizes questionnaires to investigate basic informations、Sharp injury occurrences、working environment and conditions、various knowledge and attitde、emotion and stress management, etc. of nurse’s sharp injury in tertiary hospitals in Lhasa.All data is calculated by using statistical package19.0.Descriptive statistics,χ2test,Chi-Square test,Pearson bivariate analysis and hierarchical regression analysis are used to analyze the main characters and impact factors.Results:(1)A total of521nurses to participate in the survey.Since the work of sharp injury incidence is94.2%and the frequency in the majority is3-5times.Nearly a month sharp injury incidence is54.3%and the frequency in the majority is1time.The pollution of sharp injury is46.8%.(2)Among all the sharp injury, most of the time is hands back needle cap (no fluid pollution),most of the place is in the common ward,most equipment is the disposable syringe and ampoules.And only5.9%reported every time after sharp injury.(3)Different nationality, age, professional title,department,work habits,standardized operation,work environment, knowledge and attitude towards sharp injury, to stress and emotional management,etc make a statistical significance in the sharp injury incidence(p<0.05).Conclusions:(1)The sharp injury incidence rate is high in nurses in tertiary hospitals in Lhasa.Their protection knowledge and consciousness is week.And there are Non-standard processing measures after the occurrence of sharp injury.(2)The major influencing factors of sharp injury related to the following several aspects:One is the different demographic characteristics:race, age, professional title, department.The other is working environment and condition:more invasive operation,more uncooperative patients, crowded and noisy space,,lacking an united and collaboration nursing unit.The third is the lack of related knowledge and some wrong cognition:lack of prevention knowledge,thought of inevitable sharp injury,thought of backing to the needle cap can prevent the sharp injury.The four is a bad emotion and stress management:emotional exhaustion, dehumanization,l low general self-efficacy,work stress,too much pressure from patients and managers.Nine figures; Sixteen tables; Ninety-two references...
