Objective: To measure the levels of PDGFα expression to investigate the geneticmechanism of uterine sarcomas and to produce the clue for the earlier diagnose andtherapy of them. Methods: Collect tissue specimens, including30cases of leiomyosarcomaorganization and18cases of leiomyoma,6cases of normal uterine tissue. The uterinesarcoma tissues had been conformed by specialist in pathology. We used ofimmunohistochemical staining S-P method to measure the levels of PDGFα expression inevery uterine sarcoma.Results:1. The positive expression rate of PDGFα in uterine leiomyosarcoma was100%, andin uterine normal tissue the expression rate was0. One case of low expression in uterineleiomyoma was found. The positive expression rate of PDGFα in uterine leiomyosarcomawas significantly higher than in the normal uterus tissue and leiomyoma.2. PDGFα was highly expressed in20cases of uterine leiomyosarcoma, and sevencases of low expression was found in uterine leiomyosarcoma. The PDGFα expressionlevel was significantly associated with tumor size, lymph node status, TNM stage, localrecurrence, distant metastasis.Conclusion:1.PDGFα protein expression, as an important indicator of uterine sarcoma, wassignificantly associated with the occurrence of uterine sarcoma.2.PDGFα expression levels may be not only associated with the occurrence, development and prognosis of uterine leiomyosarcoma, but also may serve as a biologicalmarker for leiomyosarcoma, may be used for differential diagnosis with leiomyoma andindirect prognosis evaluation of leiomyosarcoma.
