Objective:To study and evaluate effects of Daixiean on metabolic syndromeclinical efficacy (lipids, blood glucose, blood pressure, weight, waist, etc.) andinflammatory-related factors (IL-6, TNF-α, CRP, adiponectin, Chemerin), as well asthe relationship between metabolic syndrome and inflammatory cytokines IL-6,TNF-α, CRP, adiponectin, Chemerin’s. To observe effects and clinical efficacy of onchronic subclinical inflammation in patients with metabolic syndrome, provide thebasis for TCM clinical treatment of metabolic syndrome. Methods: From May2013to December2013, First Affiliated Hospital of HenanCollege of Endocrinology ward medical centers and60patients were randomizedaccording to the method, divided into traditional Chinese medicine group (Daixieangroup) and western medicine group (Malay rosiglitazone group). Both groups weregiven basic treatment. traditional Chinese medicine group were given oral medicineDaixiean (comprise ginseng10g, Chuan Xiong15g, silkworm15g, Epimedium15g,rhubarb wine12g, Kudzu30g) while basic treatment, boiled water, sooner or latereveryday. Western medicine group were given the same basic treatment of oralrosiglitazone maleate (Avandia,4mg, Tianjin GlaxoSmithKline Ltd.),4mg, everyday.Observation period of eight weeks. Subjects were measured before and after treatmentsafety and efficacy indicators (including waist circumference, body mass index, bloodglucose and lipid, insulin resistance index, IL-6, TNF-α, CRP, adiponectin, Chemerinetc.).Results:The two groups of subjects waist circumference, body mass index, bloodpressure, fasting glucose, insulin, insulin resistance index, triglycerides, totalcholesterol, LDL cholesterol, interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α, hypersensitivityC-reactive protein, Chemerin level has declined, there was a significant difference(P<0.05) than before treatment; high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, adiponectin levels increased (P<0.05). In reducing waist circumference, body mass index, elevatedinterleukin-6and adiponectin, the difference was significant (P<0.05) compared withwestern medicine group. Correlation analysis, interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, Chemerin respectively fasting glucose, fastinginsulin, insulin resistance index, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol was positivelycorrelated (P<0.05); adiponectin and fasting glucose, fasting insulin, insulinresistance index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol was negativelycorrelated (P<0.05). Interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α, high-sensitivity C-reactiveprotein, a positive correlation (P<0.05) between Chemerin respectively; and arebetween adiponectin and negatively correlated (P<0.05).Conclusion:Daixiean and rosiglitazone maleate can improve clinically relevantindicators of metabolic syndrome, reduce insulin resistance, ease chronic subclinicalinflammation. In reducing waist circumference, body mass index, interleukin-6levelsand raise levels of adiponectin, Daixiean compared to rosiglitazone have moresignificant results. Inflammatory factor interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, Chemerin respectively, with fasting glucose, fasting insulin, insulin resistance index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoproteincholesterol were positively correlated; adiponectin fasting glucose, fasting insulin, insulin resistance index, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol wasnegatively correlated. Interactions between inflammation-related factors, and with thedifferent components of the metabolic syndrome correlated, causing insulin resistancemay be affected by the occurrence and development of metabolic syndrome.
