Objective: To study the clinical features and prognosis of thetransient ischemic attack(TIA) patients whose diffusion-weightedimaging(DWI) is positive.Methods:100patients suffered from transient ischemic attack whocharged in The Armed Police Hospital of Chongqing were analyzedretrospectively from January2012to December2013. The DWI wasperformed in the hospital, all the100patients were divided into DWIpositive group and DWI negative group. The risk factors, clinical featuresand prognosis were analysed between the two groups. Results: Carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque, TIA last more than onehour, TIA were diagnosis more than or equal to twice one week areindependent risk factors which will cause DWI positively. There had8patients underwent the ischemic cerebrovascular disease in DWI positivegrop within3months,5in the DWI negative group. The prevalence ofischemic cerebrovascular disease is higher in the DWI positive group, P< 0.05.Conclusion: Carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque, duration andfrequency of TIA were main causes of DWI positively. DWI positive grouphas a high risk of ischemic cerebrovascular disease than negative group.
