Objective:To investigate the relationship between HOGG1, XRCC1, XRCC2gene polymorphisms and environmental factors and susceptibility of esophageal cancer in Kazak in Xinjiang. Methods:PCR-RFLP was used to detect94cases of Xinjiang Kazak esophageal cancer patients and105cases of Xinjiang Kazak healthy controls with peripheral blood HOGG1, XRCC1, XRCC2genotypes, a on-site survey of the study object was made about their living environment. To analyse the relationship between the susceptibility of different genotypes and environmental factors and esophageal cancer of Xinjiang Kazak. Result:The risk of esophageal cancer in Kazakh in Xinjiang was not alter by the polymorphism of the HOGG1gene (χ2=0.474, P=0.789). XRCC1, XRCC2gene polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to esophageal cancer in Kazakh in Xinjiang (χ2=12.694, P=0.002; χ2=12.411, P=0.002); Risk of carry ing XRCC1GG type in individual suffering from esophageal cancer is2.797times that of XRCC1AA type (P=0.005, OR=2.797); Risk of carrying XRCCT、TT、CT+TT in individuals suffering from esophageal cancer is2.401、4.026、2.665times that of XRCC2CC type (P=0.004, OR=2.401; P=0.004, OR=4.026; P=0.001, OR=2.665). The interaction of XRCC1and XRCC2gene are associated with susceptibility to esophageal cancer in Kazakh in Xinjiang; Smoking, drinking were associated with reduced risks of esophageal cancer in Xinjiang (P=0.013, OR=2.216; P=0.003, OR=2.624), no correlation with the Xinjiang Kazak’s esophageal cancer was observed with other factors. Conclusion:XRCC1and XRCC2are associated with esophageal cancer in Kazakh in Xinjiang, the interaction of the two genes may play a joint role in esophageal cancer in Xinjiang Kazak, smoking and drinking are conferred higher risks of esophageal cancer in Xinjiang Kazakh.
