Objective:To detect the expression of c-Met in esophageal squamous cell car cinoma tissues(ESCC) and paired non-cancerous tissues of Kazak and Han,to inves tigate the association between c-Met and clinicopathological parameters of ESCC p atients,And to investigate is there any difference in c-Met expression between two nationalities. Methods:Sixty pairs of paraffin-embedded ESCC tissues and paired no n-cancerous esophageal tissues were collected from the Department of Pathology,Th e Tumor Hospital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Affiliated To Xinjian g Medical University.Sections from each specimen were examined by a pathologis and graded histologically.Patients’clinical parameters were collected meanwhile.RT-P CR was applied to detected the expression of c-Met in the tissues. Results:The ex pression of c-Met both in ESCC tissues and adjacent tissues, whereas the positive expression of c-Met in adjacent normal tissues were significantly lower than that of ESCC tissues(χ2kaz=12.07, χ2han=9.09,both P<0.05).There is no significant associa tion between c-Met expression and these clinicopathological parameters(patients’gend er,age, nationality, tumor posion, and tumor size) was found(P>0.05),and significant a ssociation between c-Met expression and cell grading in Kazak(χ2kaz=6.843, P=0.038),however,there is no association in Han(χ2han==0.513,P=0.886).The expression of c-Met was significantly correlated with tumor invasion depth, Lymph node metast asis, and TNM(tumor-node-metastasis) stage (P=0.00,P=0.00, P=0.00,respectively).Co nclusion:The over expression of c-Met may be a marker for highly invasive ESC C.The over expression of c-Met was correlated with tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage of ESCC patients. There may be significant associat ion between c-Met expression and cell grading, and no significant association betwe en different nationality.
