Objective: Aim to study the trend of antibiotic resistance ofmulti-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria in our hospital from2009to2011and to investigate antibacterial activity of polymyxin B and clinicalcommonly used agents against multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteriain vitro, so as to provide guidance for clinical use of antibiotic drugs. Methods:A total of155strains multi-drug resistant gram-negativebacteria were isolated by the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion, in which,Acienetobacter baumanii were53, Klebsiella pneumoniae were50,Pseudomonas aeruginosa were52. The susceptibility and minimuminhibitory concentrations (MICs) of13antibacterial drugs includingpolymyxin B and imipenem against155clinical isolated multi-drugresistant gram-negative bacteria were determined by the Kirby-Bauer diskdiffusion and agar dilution method. Results were evaluated on the basis ofCLSI2011. WHONET5.6and SPSS18.0softwares were used to analyze the data. Results:The antibiotic resistant rates of multi-drug resistantGram-negative bacteria has no significantly difference between the twomethods(P>0.05). The drug resistance rate of Acinetobacter baumannii toimipenem and meropenem,were58.3%to68.2%. While for the rest of theagents, the drug resistance rates were48.5%to100%. KlebsiellaPneumoniae showed the drug resistance rate as less than9.4%againstimipenem, between8.6%to15.9%against amikacin, piperacillin/tazobactam, and34.8%to41.8%against ceftazidime, cefepime. Topiperacillin the drug resistance rate were46.3%~55.2%. The resistancerate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa against ceftazidime, cefepime andimipenem were12.8%to30.7%. Three kinds of multi-drug resistantgram-negative bacteria were sensitive to polymyxin B and sensitive ratewere more than96%.MIC50and MIC90were less than1mg/L.Conclusion:The drug resistance of multi-resistant gram-negativebacteria against commonly antibiotic agents has been very pervasive, whilepolymyxin B had strong antibacterial activity against multi-drug resistantgram-negative bacteria.
