Objectives: This study investigated the echinococcosis prevalence in Ningxia HuiAutonomous Region with method of epidemiologic investigation. It indicated the epidemicfeatures such as distribution among groups. time and areas, human body prevalence.Investigated the intermediate host population (rodent species) and the indicator of theegg-exposure through serological response amongst children and teenagers at local level.Analysis the transmission type of echinococcosis can help the adaptable control program andpolicy developments.Methods: We collected record data of hydatid disease from county-and over-hospitalsfrom2002to2013. We collected blood of4to18age people from25village in15counties, the specific antibody against E.m. antigens were detected by ELISA assay. Therodents investigation was undertaken by trapping in Xiji.Results: A total of2334cases were collected. The average hospitalization rate was3.09/100000population. The number of cases showed a trend of increase and then decreaseyear by year. The most case in Tongxin country(12.43%)、Yuanzhou region(12.17%)'Haiyuan country(11.95%). The group of young adults was more than others, There was anobvious difference between the constitution rates of female and male, Han and Hui, differentage groups(P<0.05).Serologic positive rate appeared at6.7%in119individuals among1772children/teenagers. Serum positive rate distribution of the highest township is Xingpingtownship(12.4%)and next is Shagou village(10.9%).Most distribution area is Southwest(8.9%),and next is Northwest(8.8%).The comparisons occurred significantly betweengender (P<0.05)with higher positive in females than in males,(P<0.05); but there were notsignificant differences in ethnic groups and age groups (P>0.05).A total of133rodents were captured in10species.The dominant species was captured as Cricetuluslongicaudatus,accounting for65.4%.Most distribution area is Northwest(30%),and next isSouthwes(t27%).Intermediate host density observed more hamster and zokor, compared with2003mouse population decreased and zokor population is likely to increase.Conclusion: District echinococcosis common infection, district have echinococcosis ofvarious disease cases distribution, its prevalence is southern mountains high incidence.CE inXiji infection rate is higher in children and adolescents, long-tailed hamster is probablyimportant intermediate host of CE in Xiji, local CE propagation mode for rodents-cyclebetween dogs.
