Objective: To investigate the relationship of plasma visfatin levels and coronaryatherosclerotic plaque characteristics in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods:26CHD patients confirmed by CAG examination were devided into3groups—stable angina, unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction. The coronaryatherosclerotic plaque characteristics of different group patients were obtained byVH-IVUS. The plasma visfatin levels of26patients and10non-CHD patients weredetected at the same time. The relationship of plasma visfatin levels and coronaryatherosclerotic plaque characteristics was analyzed.Results:1) the visfatin levels varied in different groups, and the sequence from thehighest to the lowest was: acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, stable angina,non-CHD. All the differences had statistical significant2) there was a positive correlation between the plasma visfatin level and the plaquearea in different section of VH-IVUS.3) There was a positive correlation between the plasma visfatin levels and the totalplaque area of the criminal vessel. The visfatin levels were found to correlate withtotal plaque burden, total plaque volume, total fibrous volume, the percentage offibrous, total necrotic core volume、and the percentage of the necrotic core,either.Conclusions:1)The visfatin level is higher in CHD patients than in non-CHDpatients, and is the highest in the ACS group.2) There is correlation between thevisfatin levels and the coronary atherosclerotic plaque characteristics.
