Objective The experiment was supposed to investigate the expression ofvascular endothelial grow factor C and Microlymphatic Vessel Density in non-smallcell lung cancer and their correlation with clinicopathological features and prognosticsignificance.Method By using immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of vascularendothelial grow factor C in52specimens of non-small cell lung cancer tissues and19specimens of adjacent non-cancerous lung tissues. MLVD was evaluated byimmunostaining with the specific antibody D2-40.Resuit The positive expression rate of VEGF-C in non-small cell lung cancertissues was statistically higher than that in adjacent non-cancerous lungtissues(P<0.05).The expression of VEGF-C correlated with tumor size, lymph nodemetastasis,TNM stage,degree of tumor,differentiation(P <0.05),but no correlatedwith age,sex, histological types,(P>0.05).The median survival time was statisticallydifferent between tow groups (P <0.05).3-year,5-year survival rates were alsostatistically different between VEGF-C positive expression and negative expression innon-small cell lung cancer patients (P<0.05). The positive expression rate of MLVDin non-small cell lung cancer tissues was statistically higher than that in adjacentnon-cancerous lung tissues (P<0.05). The expression of MLVD correlated with lymphnode metastasis, TNM stage, degree of tumor, differentiation (P <0.05), but nocorrelated with age, sex, tumor size (P>0.05). The median survival time wasstatistically different between tow groups (P <0.05).3-year,5-year survival rates werealso statistically different between MLVD positive expression and negativeexpression in non-small cell lung cancer patients (P<0.05).In the group of VEGF-Cpositive expression, the positive expression rate of MLVD was higher than that in negative expression group (P<0.05). The expressions of VEGF-C and MLVD innon-small cell lung cancer are positive related(OR=0.327,P=0.018)Conclusion The expression of VEGF-C and MLVD in non-small cell lungcancer was more statistically up-regulated than in the adjacent normal lung tissues.The expression of VEGF-C, MLVD correlated with TNM stage, and negativecorrelation with survival rate and survival period. And there is a positive correlationbetween the expression of VEGF-C and MLVD. It was show us that VEGF-Cexpression in non-small cell lung cancer may have some impacts on the occurrence,development of non-small cell lung cancer. Therefore, inhibiting the expression ofVEGF-C in lung cancer is expected to become a new way for prevention andtreatment of non-small cell lung cancer.
