The Interaction Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Between China And Malaysia Under The Perspective Of Public Diplomacy

It has been a long and friendly history since China set the cultural interaction of traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) with Malaysia. As an important part of the medical service system in Malaysia, the traditional Chinese medicine has a great impact on the medical custom of native Malaysians. It has been officially concerned in recently years though the TCM had companied with overseas Chinese in Malaysia during the immigration. Nowadays, the cultural interaction of TCM between China and Malaysia has become a heated point in corporation of livelihood and economy.This paper takes a research of the TCM’s history in Malaysia by field investigation and literature review. Meanwhile, this paper tries to explain why the culture of TCM could be inherited as a foreign culture and becomes an important part of the medical service system in Malaysia. It also demonstrates the feasibility and significance of TCM in public diplomacy so as to severing the foreign affairs in our country.It’s still a fresh concept when it comes to the public diplomacy of TCM. The author introduces the concept of public diplomacy on the basis of traditional Chinese medicine culture and puts up a new word: the public diplomacy of TCM. According to the analysis of "wins" and "loses" in the promotion of TCM, China should take following diplomatic strategy of TCM: to encourage the domestic TMC "going out"; to hold the principle of modest and tolerance in reacting with other culture; to pursuit mutual benefits in the corporation; and to unite together in shaping the national image.
