Objective:The present retrospective cohort study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of applying Xiao-Qing-Long decoction to bronchiolitis treatment. Meanwhile, the experience of treating bronchiolitis with Xiao-Qing-Long decoction from Pediatric Department of Guangdong Hospital of Chinese Medicine was summarized and introduced.Methods:Pass the case-control study, evaluating the effectiveness and safety of applying Xiao-Qing-Long decoction to bronchiolitis treatment. Meanwhile he experience of treating bronchiolitis with Xiao-Qing-Long decoction. Through the cases collecting, all the information of inpatients including general information, TCM syndrome, prescription, was analyzed on SPSS22.0 statistical analysis package. The study assessed the treatment effect of Xiao-Qing-Long decoction on bronchiolitis from TCM symptoms characteristics, effects and safty. Mean while the study summarized the clinical experience of the Xiao-Qing-Long decoction on bronchiolitis primarily.Results:1.The clinical experience:we consider that principal pathogenesis of bronchiolitis is exposure to exogenous evil, particularly cold-evil, and retained fluid. Base on this pathogenesis we use Xiao-Qing-Long decoction to treat the bronchiolitis. Frequently, we use the Ma huang, Xi xin, Ban xia, Bai shao from the Xiao-Qing-Long decoction, and we add Xin ren, Di longgan, San baipi, She gan, Su zi and Su geng.2. Comparing among cases with Xiao-Qing-Long decoction treatment and casese without TCM treatment. The cases with Xiao-Qing-Long decoction show significant improvement in the grade of cough expectoration moist rale and total symptom score. (P<0.05) The cases with Xiao-Qing-Long decoction showed that significant decrease of length of hospitalization and disease duration. (P<0.05)3. Comparing among the before and after treatment of Xiao-Qing-Long decoction, there has no significant difference in blood count, liver function and renal function (P>0.05).And no adverse event was observed.Conclusion:1.The clinical experience:through this study we consider that principal pathogenesis of bronchiolitis is exposure to exogenous evil and retained fluid. We consider that using the Xiao-Qing-Long decoction on the treatment of bronchiolitis physicians should think about the pathogenesis firstly, and then add other medicine according to individual differences.2. The Xiao-Qing-Long decoction on the treatment of bronchiolitis has a satisfactory effect. It shows the significant improvement in Symptom improvement, decrease of length of hospitalization and disease duration.3. The Xiao-Qing-Long decoction on the treatment of infant bronchiolitis haven’t show any effect on blood count, liver function and renal function.
