Study On Child Neglect Status And Influencing Factors Of Preschool Children In Urban Tongling City

Objective To understand the status of child neglect level among preschool children of urban Tongling city and to explore influencing factors, so as to provide scientific knowledge for taking preventive measures and putting forward effective intervention means.Methods Cluster method was employed to select preschool children in 9 kindergartens, and their parents were administered with Questionnaire of Preschool Children in Urban Tongling City by CNS. Epidata3.0 was used to establish database and SPSS12.0 to statistical analysis.Results(1) Descriptive analysis: ①1622 valid questionnaires were included in our analysis. There were 837 boys and 785 girls(sex ratio 1.07:1). The number of 3-year-old children is 296, accounting for 18.2%; the number of 4-year-old children is 607, accounting for 37.4%; The number of 5-year-old children is 526, accounting for 32.4%; The number of 6-year-old children is 193, accounting for 11.9%. 832 children are in public kindergartens, accounting for 51.3%; 790 children are in public kindergartens, accounting for 48.7%; ②The total neglect rate,degree and scores of preschool children of urban Tongling city were 35.5%, 58.35 and 159.29. The total neglect rates or degree between genders had no difference; The total neglect rates between ages had no difference, but the degrees between ages had difference. Physical neglect, emotional neglect and medical neglect are main parts of children neglect. ③Neglected children are dominated by a single type(51.9) and are relatively small by more than 4 subscales(14.6%).(2) Univariate analysis showed that the significantly relevant factors of childneglect were: kindergarten ownership, whether one child,parent education lever, family atmosphere, family economic conditions, whether the parents impulsive and so on.(3) The multiple regression analysis showed that the significantly relevant factors of child neglect were: family atmosphere, mother impulsiveness, mother education, whether one child, the child’s primary caregiver, as well as the average monthly income. The factors of physical neglect were family atmosphere, mother impulsiveness, whether one child, family economic conditions,father smoking. The factors of emotional neglect were family atmosphere, mother impulsiveness, mother education, whether one child,age, the average monthly income and complications at birth. The factors of educational neglect were family atmosphere,mother education, father’s age, whether one child, mother impulsiveness, father’s occupation, whether father’s working is busy and father smoking. The factors of safety neglect were family atmosphere, whether one child, mother’s education and mother’s age. The factors of educational neglect were family atmosphere, mother education, family economic conditions and whether one child.Conclusions The neglect rate of preschool children of urban Tongling city was higher, and the neglect degree was more serious. Physical neglect, emotional neglect and medical neglect are main parts of children neglect. Our society and families should greatly pay attention to child neglect. Child neglect is affected by many factors and the most significant factors are family factors. The health education should be strengthened to improve the cognition and comprehension of the neglect problem. Parents should renew the knowledge and skill of nursing children. The monitoring of child neglect network should be established. The relevant departments should take effective measures to control child neglect development.
