Objective: Investigating the correlation among fasting plasma glucose(FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb A1c) and the degree of coronary atherosclerosis in the patients without history of diabetes. Methods: Retrospectively analyzed the 300 elderly patients of Theree Gorges Central Hospital(the Master’s training base of North Sichuan Medical College) who had no history of diabetes, coronary atherosclerotic heart diasease or myocardial infarction. They all finished the coronary angiography. The results of coronary angiography were evaluated by experienced cardiologists who did not know the results of their FPG levels. The dignosis of coronary heart disease was based on the results of coronary angiography of the major branches vascular(left main, left anterior descending artery, left circumflex artery and right coronary artery) stenosis greater than or equal to 50%. Calculated the Gensini score of the main narrowed coronary artery. All the patients were divided into four groups according to their level of FPG:≤5.5mmol/L, 5.5~6.0 mmol/L, 6.1~6.9 mmol/L, and≥6.0 mmol/L. Analysized the differences among FPG, Hb A1 c and the Gensini score of each group and the correlation of FPG, Hb A1 c and the Gensini score. Results: The Hb A1 c level and Gensini score of the IFG group and the DM group were higher than the control group, the differences had statistical significance(P<0.05). The Hb A1 c level of the DM group was higher than the IGF group, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05). The Gensini score between the IFG group and DM group did not have statistical significance(P>0.05).The result of FPG was associated with Gensini score,r=0.375(P<0.001). The result of Hb A1 Cc was associated with Gensini score, r=0.284(P<0.001).The level of Hb A1 c was associated with FPG, r=0.634(P<0.001).Conclusion: The result of FPG and Hb A1 c was associated with Gensini score. IGF may be an independent risk factor of coronary heart disease.
