Objective:To evaluate the changes of blood pressure variability and pulse wave velocity in prehypertension and the correlation between them.Method:The subjects were selected from Medical Center and Cardiology clinic of Bengbu Third People’s Hospital between December 2013 and November 2014.According to JNC7 classification of BP,the subjects were divided into prehypertension group(n=50)and normotensive group(n=30).All of them were given physical examination, blood biochemical examination, the detection of 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM) and brachial ankle pulse wave velocity(PWV).Compared the differences of blood pressure variability and pulse wave velocity between the two groups(t test). The correlation between pulse wave velocity and blood pressure variability in prehypertension group were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis, and the independent predictive factors of pulse wave velocity was explored by stepwise multiple linear regression analysis.Results:1.The abdominal circumference, office SBP,office DBP, TC,LDL-C and UA in prehypertension group were higher than in normotensive group.2.The PWV were significantly higher in prehypertension group than the normotensive group, there was a significant difference between two groups(P <0.01).3.The 24 h SBP,24 h DBP,DSBP,DDBP,NSBP,NDBP,24 h SBP-SD,24 h DBP-SD,24 h SBP-ARV were significantly higher in prehypertension group than the normotensivegroup, there was a significant difference between two groups(P <0.05).4.The Pearson correlation analysis showed: the age, waist circumference, TC,LDL-C,UA,24 h SBP,24 h SBP-SD,24 h DBP-SD,24 h SBP-ARV,24 h DBP-ARV were related to PWV,and the ARV had stronger relation with PWV.5.Stepwise multiple linear analysis model shows: age, abdominal circumference,LDL-C, UA,24 h SBP and 24 h SBP-ARV were independent predictors of PWV in prehypertension.Conclusion:1.The population have already appeared abnormal metabolism in prehypertension;2.The BPV and PWV were higher in prehypertensive subjects than those who had normal blood pressure. It was indicated that BPV and PWV had important implications for the prevention of target organ damage by detecting the 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and PWV.3.BPV and PWV were correlated.4.The age, waist circumference,LDL-C, UA,24 h SBP and 24 h SBP-ARV were independent predictors of PWV in prehypertension. We can improve arterial stiffness and prevent the damage of target organs through the intervention of these factors.
