Objective:To investigate the application of Mirena(levonorgestrelreleasing intrauterine system,LNG-IUS) for preventing recurrence of endometrial polyps after transcervical resection of endometrial polyps(TCRP) under hysteroscopy. Methods: A total of 120 cases by different ways after hysteroscopic surgery for endometrial polyps recently were followed up. After TCRP, the cases with simple endometrial polyps were randomly subdivided into 4 groups,(1) control group: 28 patients without medication after TCRP under hysteroscopy were selected as control group.(2)study groups: group A. TCRP+Mirena There were 34 cases were treated with Mirena at the 3-5th day of the first menses after TCRP under hysteroscopy; group B.TCRP+ marvelone 32 cases were treated with orally administration of marvelone at the first day after TCRP under hysteroscopy,1 tablet per day continuously for 21 days. The same treatment was given at the fifth day of withdrawal bleeding after drug withdrawal; The above methods were repeated for 3 periods of treatment. group C,(TCRP+medroxyprogesterone) 26 cases were treated with orally administration of medroxyprogesterone tablet at the 5th day after TCRP under hysteroscopy,8mg per day continuously for 21 days. The above methods were repeated for 3 periods of treatment. The recurrence rate of endometrial polyps was compared among 4 groups after12 months. Results: The recurrence rates of 4 groups(group A, group B, group C and control group) with simple endometrial polyps were 0%,6.25%,7.69%,21.43% respectively. Compared with control group, the recurrence rates of endometrial polyps after TCRP under hysteroscopy of group A obviously decreased. There was statistical differences.(P<0.05); There were no statistical differences for the recurrence rates of endometrial polyps among study groups respectively(P>0.05). The thickness of endometrium of all the three study groups changed thinner obviously comparing with control group(P<0.05). There were a little improvement about abnormal menstruation in the study groups. Conclusion:The recurrence of endometrial polyps can be effectively decreased by using Mirena after TCRP under hysteroscopy.
