Background: Chronic Heart Failure(CHF) is a set of clinical syndrome caused by ventricular filling and(or) ejection ability damage becaused of a variety of cardiac structural or functional disease. The main Clinical performance is breathing problems and weakness of limited physical activity and edema, Almost all types of heart and great vessels disease will finally resulted in heart failure. There is an upward trend in the incidence and mortality. The onset of heart failure not only can seriously affect the patient’s quality of life, but also can greatly shorten the patient’s life, About 50% of patients will die within five years, the high fatality rate is equivalent to the mortality of malignant tumors. Objective: To observe the clinical effect of congestive heart failure treated by regular western medicine, accompanied with Supplementing Qi,Nourishing Yin and Promoting Blood Circulation prescription invented by Dr.MIAO Huawei. Methods: A randomized double blind principle and strictly abide was adopted for the diagnosis and the inclusion criteria in this thesis. 60 patients with congestive heart failure and cardiac function for level Ⅲ or Ⅳ were collected in Hebei Province Chinese Medicine Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient, who were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group and the control group, 30 cases for each. The experimental group included 16 males and 14 females, aged 52 to 71 years old with average of60.4 years old, longest duration of 11 years, and the shortest, 2 years. Control group included 15 males and 15 females, aged 47 to 69 years old with average of 60.1 years old.The longest course of the disease is 9 years, and the shortest,2 years. All patients were required to rest with limited water and sodiumintake, while medication strategy can be adjusted and individual treatment plan can be made based on personal situations.According to the principle of the strong heart, diuresis, dilate blood vessels and inhibition of ventricular remodeling, the control group received conventional western medicine treatment, including Digoxin 0.125 mg qd/day, cefuroxime Sammy 20 mg bid/day, spironolactone 20 mg bid/day, captopril tablets 25 mg bid/day, tartrate metoprolol 12.5mg qd/day. The experimental group were treated with the same routine western medicine treatment, combined with Chinese medicine. Each group was treated for 4 weeks. The symptoms, cardiac function classification, 6MWT distance, BNP, LVEF, FS, CO, SV and early/late diastolic velocity were recorded.Result:1 The total effective rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. There was significant difference(P<0.05).2 The distance values in 6MWT made obvious improvements both in the experimental group and the control group, and the experimental group was higher than the control group, there was significant difference(P<0.05).3 The EF, FS, CO, SV and E/A were improved obviousiy after treatment. There was significant difference between the experimental group and the control group about EF and FS(P<0.05),While the CO, SV and E/A had no significant differences(P<0.05).4 The BNP of patients in the therapeutic group were obviously improved after treatment, and the experimental group was more obviously. There was significant difference(P<0.05).5 No obvious side effects have been found in both groups. Conclusions:Chinese medicine ‘Supplementing Qi, Nourishing Yin and Promoting Blood Circulation is an effective prescription to congestive heart failure, and can relieve the symptoms, improve the cardiac function, enhance the patient exercise tolerance, prolong the patient’s distance of 6 minutes walking test and decrease the BNP. The curative effect of conventional western medicine with chinese medicine was obviously, and had no sideeffects. This new medicine can delay the process of HF, and provide new therapeutic approaches to improve the quality of life. Therefore, this research provides objective basis for the treatment of HF by integrative medicine.
