Objective Investigate to apply for multiple frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis to estimate the dry weight in hemodialysis patients. And understand the difference of the body composition between the hemodialysis patients and normal people, also the effect on the intracellular (ICW) and extracellular (ECW) by hemodialysis. Methods A total of 86 patients in maintenance hemodialysis who are in dry weight by clinical Method.Of which,48 cases are male, average age (61.25±15.48),38 cases are female, average age (58.79±16.77).At the same time, select 258 cases who are in the same or similar age, body weight, height and BMI with that as the control group.Use the multiple frequency bioelectrical impedance instrument to measure the composition of human body in pre-and post-dialysis treatment. To compare the difference between the fluid distribution in hemodialysis patients and normal persons in pre-and post-dialysis, and also with the control group. Understand the differences of the distribution of body fluid between MHD patients and healthy people. Results Statistically significant difference (P<0.05) was showed at ICW/H2 and ECW/H2. They were, in pre-dialysis, obviously higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), decreased significantly after hemodialysis (P< 0.05), and there were no difference when compared to control group (P> 0.05). ICW/ECW, ICW/TBW and ECW/TBW showed no difference between pre-dialysis and post-dialysis, and when were compared with the control group, also showed no significant changes (P>0.05). ICW/W and ECW/W results showed no consistent between male patients and female patients. ICW/W and ECW/W decreased after dialysis in male patients (P< 0.05), and they had no significant difference after dialysis when compared the control group. They were no significant changes among pre-dialysis, post-dialysis and control group (P> 0.05).Conclusion (1) The retention water distributed both in intracellular and extracellular fluid space, and not did not mainly distributed in the extracellular fluid space; The ultrafiltration affected both extracellular fluid and intracellular fluid space.in maintenance hemodialysis patients. (2) The ECW/H2 and ICW/H2 decreased significantly in post-dialysis and were close to the normal people, so they may be as indexes in evaluating the state of water overload in maintenance hemodialysis patients, but still need to be further studied.
