Objective: To estimate the utility of bioelectric impedance analysis in the assessment of the nutritional status by evaluated the nutritional status in the maintain hemodialysis (MHD) patients and control group with anthropometry, bioelectric impedance analysis and biochemistry methods, and analyzed the correltion of the data received from three methods.Method: the objects comprised of maintain hemodialysis (MHD) patients and control group. MHD samples were selected from patients which on hemodialysis in the blood purification center of the fouth hospital of Hebei Medical university. There were 37 patients be selected with 21 of them were male and 16 were female, age 24~74 year,the average age was 54±15 years, the primary disease of them were: 7 chronic glomerualrnep- hritis,7diabetic nephritis,4 IgA nephropathy,4 aristolochic nephr- opathy,2 Alport syndrome,2 autmomaldominant polycysdc kidney disease,2 benign arteriolar nephrosclerosis,1Aortoarteritis,1 anaphy lactoid purpura nephritis,7 etiol unknown.The duriation of MHD at least 6 monthes,had no imflammation and other maranais disease recently.The dialysate was comprised of bicarbonate,4~5h/time, 2~3 time /week,all of the dialyzes which them used were Fresenius 4008s. the average duriation of hemodialysis was 20.04±7.23 monthes,all patients have reached dry weight and Kt/V range 1.2-1.4.The pathogenetic condition of them were stable in the interval of dialysis. The control group included 33 samples and selected from health person who were examinated in clinic service,comprised of 17 male and 16 female, Age 18~60year,the average age was 40±13 years,all of the objects had no imflammation ,no cardiovasccular disease or cerebrovascular disease, no systemic disease in respiration,digestion and urinary system,no indocrinal disease and metabolic disease,no cancer and other maranais disease. MHD group undergone bioelectric impedance analysis after hemodialysis and reach dry weight by Maltron BioScan 916 bioelectric impedance analyzer(made in England) and received data of fat mass (FM), fault fat mass (FFM), body cell mass (BCM), protein mass, muscle mass, at the same time assessmented by anthropometry and biochemistry methods. In anthropometry using triceps skinfold to reflect the fat mass of the objects and mid-arm muscle circumference reflect the protein mass of the objects(by skinfold measurement equptment offered by Fresenius KaBi medical care company), mid-arm muscle circumference received from formulation mid-arm muscle circumference = mid-arm circumference-3.14 triceps skinfold after measured the mid-arm circumference and triceps skinfold. The biochemistry methods using Albumin and pre-Albumin.Control group undergone those assessments accordingly.The measurement of pre-Albumin level was performed by immunoturbidimetry and measurement of Albumin level by bromcresol greenagent. Datas were analyzed by statistics method by SAS6.12 software to detect the difference between two groups and the correlation of datas derived with different methods.Result1 Stastical difference of the levels of triceps skinfold measured by anthropometry,fat mass and protein mass that measured by bioelectric impedance analysis and the serum albumin concentraetion in MHD group and control group was significant,the former,s triceps skinfold, fat mass, protein mass were all smaller than the latter(TSF 9.97±3.81,15.12±3.18m m;FM9.02±4.33,14.68±8.95kg;protein 7.02±2.91,8.78±3.68kg;albumin 36.6±5.31,48.3±5.28kg;P<0.05);2 The mid-arm muscle circumference measured by anthropome- try was positively correlated with the serum albumin concentraetion in MHD group, the same as it in control group, correlation index was 0.3467and0.3713 respectively(P<0.05); in the reflection of fat capacity in the body,the fat mass measured by bioelectric impedance analysis ws positive correlated with the triceps skinfold measured by anthropometry,the same as it in the control group,the correlation index was 0.5623 and 0.4853 respectively(P<0.05); in the reflection of protein capacity in the body, the protein mass measured by bioelectric impedance analysis was positive correlated with the aubumin concentraetion measured by biochemistry methods,the same as it in the control group,the correlation index was 0.6090 and 0.4656 respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion1 There was malnutrition in MHD group.2 Bioelectric impedance analysis was cheaper, easy to operat and carry, no invasion, no pain, no radiation, had correlation with anthropometry, and biochemistry methods, so it could be used as a method to estimate nutritioin status of MHD patients when they were reached the dry weight.
