Objective:Investigate the significance of plasma soluble advanced glycation end product receptor and acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) in evaluating and predicting prognosis in sepsis.Methods:79 sepsis patients were collected in our hospital ICU form February 2013 to August 2014.The dynamic changes of plasma sRAGE were tested on the 1st, and the 3rd day. At the same time APACHE Ⅱ score were recorded. Patients were divided into survival and non-survival group basing on survival rate of the 28th day to analyze its difference and correlation with plasma sRAGE and APACHE Ⅱ score. The positive predictive value of two biomarkers, at the end, was also assessed. Results:The plasma sRAGE level and APACHE Ⅱ score of survival group were lower than those of non-survival group on the 1st, and the 3rd day (P<0.05); Meanwhile, the plasma sRAGE level and APACHE Ⅱ score positively correlated (r=0.74, P<0.05; r=0.61,P<0.05); On the 1st day, the plasma sRAGE level and APACHE II score area under the ROC curve were 0.93 and 0.86 (P<0.05); On the 3rd day, the plasma sRAGE level and APACHE Ⅱ score area under the ROC curve were 0.75 and 0.69 (P<0.05).Conclusion:The plasma sRAGE level is obviously correlated with the APACHE Ⅱ score in patients with sepsis. And the plasma sRAGE level may be used as critical parameter in predicting the prognosis of sepsis.
