In the research of traditional Chinese medicine, the traditional separation and purification methods lean to just obtain new compounds as final purpose, and clinically pharmacological experiment tends to only study at coarse pharmacodynamic extraction of traditional Chinese medicine, seldom approaching the aspect of drug efficacy material, which makes pharmacodynamic substance hard to get clear, and coordinated and antagonistic effects between different pharmacodynamic components seldom to reveal, even losing referential values to the emerging pharmacological study which orients network between drug efficacy material and pharmacological targets.This paper tries to propose an appropriate separation and purification system which could separate and purify most unknown pharmacodynamic extraction from traditional Chinese medicine to obtain the pharmacodynamic activity crowds, avoiding losing any drug efficacy material during separation process, by means of dealing with the data of previous pharmacological activity test, preparing pharmacodynamic extraction which can treat chronic renal failure from aqueous decoction of Pogonatherum crinitum, and separating and purifying pharmacodynamic fraction, synchronously combined with screening the separation and purification methods and orienting methods to pharmacodynamic activity crowds. The proposed preliminary separation and purification system could avoid losing any drug efficacy material from TMR during separation process, to the maximum extent make sure the purification products have possibility of pharmacodynamic activity, and search out the unknown pharmacodynamic substance, establishing the adaptive relationship between drug efficacy material and separation methods.The experiment is first carried out to prepare pharmacodynamic extraction from Pogonatherum crinitum and then identify compound types, finding that pharmacodynamic extraction mainly contains saponins, flavonoids, tannins, sterides and coumarins.At the same time, it figure out that total flavonoid content is 2.13 milligramme per gramme from Pogonatherum crinitum pharmacodynamic fraction by UV absorption.
