Objective:Retrospective analysis of hospital inpatient data diagnosed as severe ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, severe UC in recent years to explore the characteristics of hospitalized cases. Methods:Retrospective analysis of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region people’s Hospital from 2000 to 2014 diagnosed with severe UC and hospitalized patients medical records, Comparison of patients with severe and mild to moderate the sex ratio, age at diagnosis, extent of the lesion, pathological type, clinical symptoms, laboratory examination results, colonoscopy results and histopathologic examination results. Comparison between the two groups, the normal distribution data with single factor analysis of variance, skewness distribution data and data using Kruskal-Wallis level H test, count data using chi square test. Results:Patients with severe ulcerative colitis in men than in women (P<0.05). Severe ulcerative colitis incidence in the age of 10-29 and 30~59 of two ages, a mild to moderate UC young ages (P<0.05). The clinical symptoms of patients with UC in stool frequency increased, mucous bloody stool, fever, emaciation in severe UC group was significantly higher than that of mild to moderate group (P< 0.05). Severe UC with onset based (P<0.05). Severe UC with total colonic lesions (P< 0.05). Severe UC in laboratory examination ESR, high sensitivity CRP, P-ANCA positive significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Severe ulcerative colitis patients with recurrent, persistent course mainly, this group of severe ulcerative colitis good hair age between 10~29 and 30~59, and with the onset, involving the whole colon, severe UC were prevalent in ESR, ultra sensitive CRP increased, P-ANCA positive.
