Abstract/Summary:
Objective:Investigate and study status of the quality of life and main influencing factors on the quality of life for postoperative patients with liver transplantation in XinJiang, to provide reference and scientific basis for paramedics implementing effective psychological intervention, progressing postoperative follow-up work and improving the post-operation quality of life of liver transplant patients. Methods:Collecting information through demographic survey, Chinese version SF-36 health condition questionnaire and interview to evaluate patients’quality of life. This research includes 31 patients who survived after liver transplantation and currently have independent consciousness that are able to perform self evaluation between 2000 (since the first liver transplantation case in 2000) and Aug.2014. The case source comes from one Third Grade Class A Hospital in Xinjiang. Results:Liver Transplantation Recipients’score in 8 dimensions ranges from (60.6±18.7) to (93.9±22.1). Primary disease, surgical procedures, marital status, education level, occupation, gender and age have impacts on quality of life in some certain dimensions. Younger patients maintain a relatively higher quality of life, The clinical manifestations including better physical functioning, better vigorous spirit, better physiologic and overall health condition; Female patients scores lower in emotional functions and mental health than male patients, while higher in Physical Pain; Patients with different levels of education scores differently in emotional functions and mental health, but the trend is not obvious. Patients in different marital status get different score in vigorous spirit, physiologic functioning, emotional function and mental health. The general tendency is married patients’ score is higher than unmarried patients than divorced patients. The results of mental health is contrary to the trends. The Score shows differently in social functioning and mental health among patients with different types of primary disease. Different surgical methods and occupation only scores differently in physical functioning and overall health respectively. Compare with normal people, the Liver transplant patients’ score in physiological functioning(PF), vitality(VT), social functioning(SF) and mental health(MH) fields P<0.05, and the difference has statistical significance. Compare with Chinese American and American people, the Liver transplant patients’ score in physiological functioning(PF), bodily pain(BP), vitality(VT), social functioning(SF) and mental health(MH) fields P<0.05, and the difference has statistical significance. In this study, the Liver transplant patients’ score in quality of life evaluation is similar to the results of such studies in Europe and the United States. The patients with liver transplantation in Xinjiang were found to self rated health status, psychological and economic pressure, family members and social support were most satisfied.. Conclusion: Liver transplant patients’ quality of life shows no obvious difference from normal people, Chinese American and American people, some patients’ score even 4 or 5 dimensions higher than other groups. Except for the differences in the race culture, this may be attributes to patients’ highly recognition on health care after operation, such as follow physician’s instructions, communicate and coordinate with attending physicians etc. Certainly, it is also inseparable with some paramedics’ follow-up examinations and nursing. At the same time we have to admit that the Liver transplantation is a very effective method for treatment of advanced liver disease.
