Study On Relation Between Northwest Dryness Syndrome And Quality Of Life In Xinjiang Residents

It have never been disconnected that to study dryness and dryness syndrome from Neijing in ancient years till today. The argument about dryness haven't been stopped either. The topics on dryness mostly about autumn dryness and internal dryness, but in some special areas and multi-nationality areas, the diseases induced by dryness evil haven't been mentioned, this situation have been changed until Professor Zhou Mingxin put forward the theory of dryness is more than other areas in northwest.Northwest Dryness Syndrome (NDS) is a theory that put forward by Professor Zhou Mingxin in 1990s after summing-up plenty of ancient and modern doctors' clinical cases and theory about dryness syndrome and combines his own clinical experience about regional integrated signs of disease in Xinjiang.NDS occurs in northwest areas especially in Xinjiang. Dryness pathogen is the main cause of this disease. It is a group syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that characterized several kinds discomfort symptom of mouth, nose, throat, dry skin, dry cough and fidgetiness etc. The syndromes are the main regionally representation in Xinjiang about sub-health state. It involved a series of symptom but not included modern medicine disease. It also linked with some pulmonary disease such as rhinitis, and skin disease, hypertension, diabetes. NDS is also influenced the morbidity and pathological changes course of multiple special or high prevalence disease in Xinjiang and became one of these diseases' inducements and clinical representations.To study this syndrome advanced, under the aid financially of NSFC, we start a large-scale survey and evaluate about the northwest dryness syndrome's attack rate and the quality of life (QOL) about people in urban and rural in different nations at the areas of Hami, Yili, and Urumqi.The study provide the etiologic factor and pathogenesis or the clinical feature for NDS, and provide a reliable basis and useful references for further exploring the preven- tion and cure of NDS, finding the control strategies of Xinjiang multiple disease and sub-health, evaluate the quality of life in Xinjiang residents, so that to provide the reliable basis and useful experience on longevity factors research in Xinjiang.Objective:1. Reveal the distribution law of NDS's attack rate in urban and rural and area on Han, Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia at Hami, Yili and Urumqi in Xinjiang residents.2. Analyze and evaluate the QOL about Han, Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia at Hami, Yili and Urumqi in Xinjiang residents, and to explore its influencing factors;3. Analyze the characteristics of quality of life of NDS's sufferer about Han, Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia at Hami, Yili and Urumqi in Xinjiang residents, so as to explore the intrinsically connection between NDS and QOL.Contents and Methods:Applied field survey skill of epidemiology to survey and evaluate the NDS's attack rate and QOL on Han, Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia at Hami, Yili, Urumqi in Xinjiang residents and Shanghai residents as to control. The whole of the cases are 2691 of urban and rural residents. Furthermore to explore the distribution law in urban, nation and area of suffering in NDS's QOL and its influencing factors.The survey data is inputted through EPIDATA 3.0. After that, another 20% of the questionnaires are picked for random check, and check the consistency of the data by relevant statistical software. Then, the final analysis research database is completely formed.In the process of statistical analysis, we used SAS 8.0 statistical software for general statistical analysis, such as the t-test, ANOVA, chi-square test, SNK-q test, Nemenyi rank test, while using of canonical correlation analysis, multiple linear correlation analysis, multiple regression and other multivariate statistical methods.Using the TCM theory to explicate the distribution law of NDS's attack rate, while combine TCM and modern relevant to explain the connection between NDS and QOL.Results:1. The Distribution law of NDS' attack rate:Han, Kazak is higher than Uygur; Hami is higher than Urumqi;Urumqi is higher than Yili; Woman is higher than man; The elder is higher than the youth. 2. The Evaluation of QOL:Han in Xinjiang in the quality of life in four domain of the scores exists regional and rural-urban differences, Uygur region and does not indicate the difference between urban and rural areas; Kazakh does not show differences; Rural Uygur and Kazakh ethnic differences is not displayed. There are urban areas differences of Uygur quality of life in Hami, Urumqi. Rural Han and Uygur, Kazakh's differences are higher than that of urban residents, and the rural Han and Uygur's difference is less than the Han and Kazak's. Siberia and Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia's difference is basically the equal.3. The Distribution law of people who suffering NDS:It does not exist region, sex, and Urban and rural difference in Han, Uygur, Kazakh and Siberia at Hami, Yili and Urumqi in Xinjiang NDS's sufferer residents. The difference between NDS's sufferer or not at the same nation as the following order: Han, Kazakh, Uygur and Siberia (from high to low).Canonical correlation analysis showed that age, income or education are more important in Hami rural Han and Uygur people, or those who suffer NDS' generally information; but what played a major role in QOL are physiological and environmental domain or all of the four domains; From the results of cancorr can be obtained age and physical domain, psychology and social relations domain were negatively correlated, and the education level, income and the domain of physiology, psychology and social relations domains are positively correlated.Multiple linear correlation analysis, and stepwise regression analysis showed that the people who suffer from NDS's symptom score and QOL in the physiology domian is negatively correlated, furthermore it can be make described using linear regression equation.Conclusion:Firstly, the Distribution law of NDS' attack rate connected with special geographical environment in Xinjiang, climate outside made it dry, the more Dryness, the more pathogenic dryness, the higher the NDS' attack rate; Secondly, its connected with internal dryness caused by the national diet, customs and gender differences and other factors. Especially the pathogenic dryness in six exogenous factors and diet habit and life customs are more important.The Distribution law of QOL is connected with special geographical environment, economic and cultural levels and diet habits and life customs in Xinjiang. The physiology and environment domains play a major role in the QOL of those people who suffering from NDS, but those who not suffer from NDS didn't follow this law. It means NDS mainly affects the physiology and environment domains in the QOL; the people who suffer from NDS's symptom score and QOL in the physiology domain is negatively correlated, the higher the score of QOL, the lower the scores of NDS's symptom. The consistency of environment shows that NDS and QOL are impacted by environment.
