Objective: To determine the relationship between Matrix Metallo proteinase-9(MMP-9)、Tissue Inhibitor of Metallo proteinase-1(TIMP-1) and coronary artery expansion(CAE).Methods: Choose patients of department of cardiovascular in t he first affiliated hospital of USC as object of study. Coronary an giography found 40 patients with CAE. Patients who had taken dr ugs which would dilate blood vessels, and had coronary artery sten osis or autoimmune disease were not allowed to enter the group. Choose 40 patients with normal coronary artery as control group. Take patients’ blood before the coronary angiography, and then cen trifugate the blood and store it in the fridge. Apply ELISA to det ect the level of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in serum. Statistic and analy sis all the data and find the relevance between MMP-9、TIMP-1 a nd CAE.Results: There were no significant differences between CAE gro up and normal group in terms of clinical data. CAE happens more frequently in the right branch of coronary artery. CAE is a kin d multivessel disease. Type 1 is the main kind of CAE. Compar ed with normal group, the level of MMP-9 of CAE group is signi ficantly higher and the level of TIMP-1 of CAE group is lower. Conclusions: There is a correlation between MMP-9、TIMP-1 a nd CAE.
