Traditional Chinese Medieine (TCM) fingerprint technique is an generally accepted way to estimate the quality of TCM in recent decades. In this paper, taking Refining Cream dogskin as the research object, the GC-MS fingerprint of Refining Cream dogskin was established, and the similarity valuation was conducted. Meanwhile, principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) were applied to the study of fingerprint and chemical pattern recognition. Main research work and achievements are summarized as follows:1. Study on the extraction process of volatile components from Refining Cream dogskin. Firstly, comparing with three different extraction methods, steam distillation (SD) extraction was used in the experiment pretreatment, and extraction condition of SD was optimized by single factor experiment. Secondly, GC-MS conditions were optimized and the optimal analytical condition were achieved. Finally, the methodology was examined and we get good results.2. Establishment of fingerprint of Refining Cream dogskin by GC-MS. Firstly, the volatile components of19Refining Cream dogskin samples from10different manufacturers were analyzed by GC-MS. Then, the characteristic fingerprint of Refining Cream dogskin was established and36common fingerprint peaks in chromatogram were confirmed. Finally, the similarity evaluation was conducted. Results showed that the similarity of all samples are high, in addition to sample7and123. Study on the chemical pattern recognition of fingerprint of Refining Cream dogskin. PCA and CA were applied to the study of fingerprint and chemical pattern recognition, and similar results were obtained.19samples were roughly divided into three clusters. Sample7was analyzed again because it was always classified separately according to the analysis result. The result showed that it was quite different from other samples.Study on fingerprint and chemical pattern recognition of Refining Cream dogskin can be used for quality control of product. Meanwhile, this method provide a reference method for chemical pattern recognition of other TCM.
