Objective:To investigate the feature of prostate biopsy in men with age younger than50years.Method:During the period from March2009through March2014, we reviewed73patients’ages, PSA concentrations, free PSA, prostate volumes, DRE results, TURS results of MRI and results of the biopsies in The First Affiliated Hospital of Medical School of Zhejian University.Result:The results of the biopsy were19(26.03%)cases with prostate cancer,8cases(10.96%)with inflammation,46cases(63.01%)with benign tissue. The PSA concentration and PSAD were significantly different (p<0.05) between the patients with prostate cancer and those with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). PSA in patients with BPH are more concentrated in the4-10ng/ml, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), PSA in patients with PCa were higher than4ng/ml. The prostate cancer detection rates in the PSA ranges of<4ng/ml with positive DRE or abnormal imaging;4-10ng/ml;10.1-20ng/ml and>20ng/ml. The positive biopsy rates were0(0/6),9.68%(3/31),25%(5/20) and68.75%(11/16),respectively. After excluding patients with prostatitis, the positive biopsy rates were11.11%(3/27),27.78%(5/18) and78.57%(11/14),respectively. The higher levels of the PSA, the higher percentage of high grade (Gleason score≥8) prostate cancer.Conclusions:The incidence of PCa increases with increasing serum level of PSA. The main results of the biopsy in men less than50years of age with PSA<10ng/ml were prostate hyperplasia and Prostatitis. The main results of the biopsy in young men less than50years of age with PSA>10ng/ml were prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer. The positive biopsy rates in young men less than50years of age with PSA value between4and10ng/ml were relatively low.
