Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of “Xingnao Kaiqiao” Acupuncturecombined with Rehabilitation Training for the treatment of obstacle of limb movementcaused by moderate traumatic brain injury. By analyzing the therapeutic effects of thisacupuncture method, this paper puts forward the idea of implementing this method into thepractice to improve the patients’ limb movements, activities of daily living and theirquality of life.Methods: Forty cases from the neurosurgery department of Shanxi ProvincialPeople’s Hospital, who had been diagnosed as having obstacle of limb movement causedby moderate traumatic brain injury, were randomly assigned to the control group (20cases)and the treated group (20cases) evenly according to age, gender, and their condition. Andthe patients in the control group continued taking their conventional Western drugs withthe Rehabilitation Training, while the latter were futher added the “Xingnao Kaiqiao”Acupuncture treatment one time per day, for10days as one period of treatment. Therewere a rest for two days betweem the two periods of treatment, and then the evaluationwould be done after the observation for three periods. Their activities of daily living andmotor function would be assessed by applying the Barthel index and Fugl-Meyer beforeand after treatment, and all the results were to be analyzed by SPSS17.0to make acomparison between the two groups.Results:1. In the aspect of motor function, there are statistical differences between the twogroups before the treatment(P<0.01), and the efficacy was better in the treated group thanthat in the control group after the treatment(P<0.01), which not only proved that the twomethods were both effevtive, but also showed that the methods for the treated group werebetter than that for those for the control group.2. In the aspect of activity of daily living, there are statistical differences between thetwo groups before the treatment(P<0.01), and the efficacy was better in the treated groupthan that in the control group after the treatment(P<0.01), which not only proved that thetwo methods were both effective, but also showed that the methods for the treated groupwere better than that for those for the control group. Conclusion:1.On the basis of taking the conventional Western drugs with the RehabilitationTraining, adding the “Xingnao Kaiqiao” Acupuncture treatment could increasepatients’ability of motor function.2.On the basis of taking the conventional Western drugs with the RehabilitationTraining, adding the “Xingnao Kaiqiao” Acupuncture treatment could improvepatients’activities of daily living.3.The efficacy of applying the methods of “Xingnao Kaiqiao” Acupuncture,combinedwith the conventional Western drugs, in the treatment of the obstacle of limb movementcaused by moderate traumatic brain injury, was better than that of the conventionalWestern drugs with the Rehabilitation Training.
