Objective To detect the expression and clinical significance of IMP3、Fascin and nm23in gastric adenocarcinoma and explore their role in tumorigenesis and development of gastric adenocarcinoma. Methods The expressions of IMP3Fascin and nm23in gastric adenocarcinoma tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues were determined by tissue microarray and immunohischemistry(IHC).The relationship between their expressions and the clinicopathologic parameters were also analyzed. Results The positive rate of IMP3and Fascin protein in gastric adenocarcinoma tissues was51.5%and35.3%respectively, which was higher than that in matched adjacent normal tissues (P<0.001),whereas the positive rate of nm23protein in gastric adenocarcinoma tissues was43.4%,which was lower than that in matched adjacent normal tissues (P<0.001).The positive expression of IMP3was closely correlated to lymph node metastasis and TNM clinical stage and the depth of tumor infiltration (P<0.05).The positive expression of Fascin was closely correlated to the degree of tumor cell differentiation, the depth of tumor infiltration, lymph node metastasis and TNM clinical stage (P<0.05). The positive expression of nm23was closely correlated to TNM clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and the depth of tumor infiltration (P<0.05). IMP3expression was found to have positive correlations with Fascin expression in gastric adenocarcinoma(r=0.625, P<0.001), whereas the IMP3expression was found to have negative correlations with nm23expression (r=-0.783, P<0.001) and the Fascin expression was also found to have negative correlations with nm23expression (r=-0.615, P<0.001). Conclusions IMP3and Fascin may play an important role in tumorigenesis and development of gastric adenocarcinoma:they are highly associated with cancer metastasis and aggression. nm23may suppress the tumorigenesis and development of gastric adenocarcinoma. The union examination of these proteins may be helpful for the prognosis judgment of gastric adenocarcinoma.
