| [Objective]Based on the review of current status of both Chinese and Western medicine research on aplastic anemia, aiming to study the efficacy of the combination therapy of Compound Realgar Natural Indigo Tablets with Jiawei Xijiaodihuang decoction (CRNITWJXD) in the treatment of severe aplastic anemia (SAA) patients presenting as toxic heat Yin deficiency type by clinical observation. Also to establish the scientific and clinical foundation on SAA for the treatment of such type of patients with integrated medicine[Methods]The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and treatment for aplastic anemia of ancient and modern studies were systemically analyzed. And then eleven SAA patients who were typical toxic heat Yin deficiency type were informed consent to the therapy of oral administration of CRNITWJXD for a totally 60 days. Hemoglobin, leukocyte and platelet counts were detected every four weeks during and after the therapy. Patients were followed-up until 2 mouths after the recruitment. Each patient was thoroughly observed and the dynamic scores recording syndrome pattern changes were compared, and also the blood cell counts. The improvement of TCM symptoms and blood counts were assayed.[Results]The etiology and main pathogenesis of SAA was deficiency, heat, toxin and blood stasis, thus the treatment should follow the role of clearing away heat and cooling blood to stop bleeding, nourishing yin and tonifying the kidney. CRNITWJXD therapy not only increased hemoglobin level and stabilized the leukocyte and platelet counts, but also improved the TCM symptoms of patients.The clinical efficacy rate was 72.72% and the improvement rate of TCM symptoms was 90.9%.[Conclusion]Through observation and analysis of the data on eleven SAA patients’treatment, CRNITWJXD could alleviate the TCM symptoms and had clinical effect.,even amazing efficacy in certain SAA patients. |
