Objective: To observe the clinical application of the negative pressure wound therapy(NPWT) in the healing progress of burn wound, compare it with traditional gauze dressings, make a preliminary analysis about the efficacy of NPWT in promoting burn wound healing, and seek the optimal strategy for burn wound. This study promises to provide some guidance for the clinical operation in the future, and further explore the feasible simple and effective measure to improve the healing of burn wound.Methods:108 cases of hospitalized patients with burn wound were collected from municipal hospital of Heze city, and the relevant data from the medical records which were retrospectively analyzed. 52 cases of patients were treated with NPWT(NPWT group), the other 56 patients with the similar condition were cured with traditional gauze dressings(control group), according to the characteristics of the 108 patients included in this study, age, sex, wound cleaning time, re-epithelialization, the degree of pain and satisfaction, time of hospitalization and the condition of skin flap constituting clinical analysis. Compared with and summarized the effectiveness of the two methods mentioned above. Results: Of the individual cases, 52 cases of NPWT group, 56 cases in the control group, were all healed and discharged finally. In the course of treatment, significant complications were not found in all the patients. The time of wound cleaning in NPWT group was, 5-10 days, mean time was(5.97 + 1.13) days; whereas the control group was10-20 days, mean time(12.25 + 4.35) days, showing significant differences between 2groups(P<0.01).As for the epithelial re-generate was significantly faster in NPWT group than the control group(P<0.05); The degree of pain was more moderate in NPWT group patients than in that of the control group. In addition, the satisfaction was higher in NPWT group than patients in control group(P<0.01); More over, the time of hospitalization in the NPWT group was less than that of the control group(P<0.05);and the skin flap survival rate(the propotion of the skin flap which assessed as excellent)showed significant difference between 2 groups(P<0.01), which was96.8%,69.8%,respectively.Conclusion: For the burn wound, the application of NPWT proves better outcomes than the similar condition used by traditional gauze dressings. NPWT promises to shorten the time of wound cleaning, promote the progression of wound healing, add patient comfort, shorten the time of hospitalization, save the medical resources, provide a better recipient site preparation for further operations, and increase the success rate of surgery. All date taken together, NPWT is a potential method in the healing of burn wound with many advantages as compared with traditional gauza dressings and it is worth to promote it in the clinical application.
