ObjectivesTo recommend a safe and effective method for prostate biopsy by comparing different PSA levels patients with 7-needles and the 11- needles of positive detection rate of prostate cancer. Methods154 patients with abnormal PSA were chosen were selected from January 2012 to January 2015 in Qinghai province people’s hospital including 74 cases in group of 7- needles, 80 cases in group of 11- needles. The 7- needles positive detection rate was compared with 11- needles in different PSA levels. ResultsIn patients with 4<PSA≤10 ng/ml, the biopsy positive detection rate of 7 and 11- needles were 12.5% and 22.2%(P=0.034) respectively. In patients with 10<PSA≤20 ng/ml, the biopsy positive detection rates of 7 and 11- needles were 28.0% and 36.4%(P=0.539). In patients with 20<PSA≤100 ng/ml, the biopsy positive detection rate of 7 and 11- needles were 39.4% and 55.1%(P=0.163).ConclusionsIn patients with 4<PSA≤10 ng/ml, 11- needles is recommended for the biopsy while 20<PSA≤100 ng/ml, 7- needles can be chosen. Both 7 and 11- needles are applicable, when 10<PSA≤20 ng/ml.
