Comparison Of Diffuse Optical Tomography,Ultrasound Elastography And Mammography In The Diagnosis Of Breast Tumors

Background:Previous studies have demonstrated the usefulness of diffused optical tomography, ultrasound elastography, and mammography in differentiating breast tumors.Purpose:This study aims to evaluate and compare the diagnostic performance of diffused optical tomography, ultrasound elastography, and mammography in differentiating benign and malignant breast tumors.Method:All patients underwent breast biopsy or surgery. All abnormal tumors identified through diffused optical tomography, ultrasound elastography and mammography were surgically removed. A total of 67 breast tumors were examined pathologically. Of the 67 tumors,45 were histopathologically benign and 22 were malignant.Results:Ultrasound elastography was the most specific (93.33%) of the three diagnostics modalities. Diffused optical tomography and ultrasound elastography were both more accurate (80.60% and 89.55%, respectively) than mammography (63.08%). ultrasound elastography with mammography and diffused optical tomography with mammography exhibited higher specificity and accuracy (93.33% and 91.04%,77.78% and 82.09%, respectively) than mammography alone (57.78% and 63.08%). Receiver-operating characteristic curves were constructed to assess the performance of the modalities.Conclusion:Ultrasound elastography and diffused optical tomography were superior to conventional mammography in terms of both specificity and accuracy. diffused optical tomography and ultrasound elastography improves the detection specificity and accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis and combining the two modalities improves the diagnostic value.
