Objective:To Understand the personality disorder traits of epilepsy patients and analysis of the pathogenesis of epilepsy patients with personality change and related factors that influence the personality change, in order to improve the quality of life in patients with epilepsy, provide meaningful reference for building a good personality.Method:Collected in may 2014 to October 2015 in neurology department of the first hospital of Jilin University and diagnosed patients for idiopathic and cryptogenic epilepsy patients, record the patient’s age of onset, duration, frequency of seizure, duration of onset and type of the seizure, EEG and imaging science data. In the normal group, the healthy volunteers matched for age, gender, educational level with the epilepsy group. The Chinese version of the Personality Questionnaire Eysenck, which was revised by Professor Gong Yaoxian in1984, was used to analyze the personality characteristics and related factors of the patients with epilepsy by using statistical knowledge.Result:(1) personality data of epilepsy group and normal group : compared with the normal control group, epilepsy group of P and N scores were significantly higher, E subscale scores decreased significantly, P<0.05, statistical significance, L table score,P>0.05, no statistically significant. In the epilepsy group, abnormal EEG discharges were located in the temporal lobe in 38 cases, and 19 cases were located in the frontal lobe. Temporal lobe discharge in the mental P, N scale score was significantly higher than the frontal discharge, P<0.05, there was statistical difference, personality in the L, E scores were not statistically significant difference.(2) epilepsy group, abnormal discharge of EEG is located in the left side of 14 cases, 13 cases are located on the right side, 30 cases are located in bilateral. On the P scale score comparison of left, right, bilateral, P<0.05, there was statistical difference, and the E, N, L scale score was not statistically significant.(3)In epileptic group, age of onset is less than or equal to 10 years with 5 cases, between the age of 10 to 20 years old with 19 cases, age of onset is more than or equal to 20 years old with 33 cases. Compared with the different age of onset stages in personality scale P, N score, P<0.05, there was significant difference, and the E, L scale score was not statistically significant. In epilepsy group, the duration of epilepsy is less than 3 years in 23 cases, in the course of 3 years to 10 years in 12 cases, and 22 cases of course more than 10 years. Compared with different duration of epilepsy in personality scale P, N, P<0.05, there were significant differences, and the E, L scale score was not statistically significant.(4) In epilepsy group, the frequency of seizuree is less than 1 time per month in 19 cases, more than or or equal to 1 time per month in 38 cases. Compared with different frequency of seizure in personality scale P, N score, P<0.05, there were significant differences, but there were no significant differences in E and L scale. In epilepsy group, the duration of seizure is less than 5 minutes in 39 cases, more than or or equal to 5 minutes in18 cases. Compared with the different duration of seizure in personality scale P, N score,P<0.05, there were significant differences, but there were no significant differences in E and L scale.(5) In epilepsy group, there were 14 cases without antiepileptic drug, 26 cases were treated with single drug, and 17 cases were treated with combined drugs. Compared with the different number use of drugs in P, N scale score, P<0.05, there were significant differences, and E, L scale is no statistical difference.(6) In epilepsy group, there were 30 males and 27 females. The personality scores of gender had no statistical significance(P>0.05); there is no family history of epilepsy in 4cases, 53 cases without a family history of epilepsy, epilepsy personality scores for each scale were no statistically significant(P>0.05); in epileptic group, there is 5 cases of epileptic state history, and no epileptic state history in 52 cases, personality scores of whether there is a history of epileptic state were no statistically significant;in epileptic group, simple partial seizure were 12 cases, complex partial seizure have 14 cases, secondary full episodes were31 cases. F test, the different types of seizure in the scale scores, P > 0.05, no statistical significance.Conclusion:(1) Temporal lobe epilepsy patients were more prone to personality change.(2) The personality changes of epileptic may be related to the abnormal discharge of cerebral dominant hemisphere.(3) The onset age is smaller, the longer the duration, the greater the impact on changing the personality of patients with epilepsy.(4) Seizure of epilepsy is more frequently, the longer the duration, the greater the influence of the personality of patients with epilepsy.(5) The antiepileptic drugs have certain effect on the personality of patients with epilepsy.(6) The differences between men and women, family history of epilepsy, status epilepticus history, and different types of seizure had no significant effect on personality.
