OCD is an anxiety disorder in which patients experience recurrentobsessions and compulsions that cause significant distress and occupy asignificant portion of their lives; effect of therapy is not good. Morita of Japan inthe treatment of nervous disorders (including OCD) is unique, that these patientswith nervous disorders have neurotic personality. Morita theory was based onthe characteristics of oriental culture, and it hased cured all kinds of patientswith OCD. There has no reports of literature about study on the characters ofMNP of patients with OCD, neither does the study on its correlations withEysenck Personality, Parental Rearing Patterns, Coping Style. Then, in order todo something to change this research status, we did this study. By understandingMNP, hope to reduce misdiagnosis and missing diagnosis of patients with OCD,and to provide theoretical guidance for the psychotherapy of patients with OCD.The study is a retrospective controlled study, including patient group andnormal control group. Sixty-eight patients with OCD participated in the study, who came from Department of Psychology of a university, Psychosomatic Division of its Affiliated Hospital, and Mental Health Center of the same city, from June2010to December2011. Normal control group came from thestudents and faculty of a university, a total number of77persons. All personsgave informed consent after the study procedures were explained to them. Thestudy was performed by Basic Situation Questionnaire, Morita NeuroticPersonality Questionnaire, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, Parental RearingPatterns Questionnaire, and Coping Style Questionnaire. Study characters ofMNP of patients with OCD and correlation with the Eysenck Personality,Parenting Rearing Style, Coping Style. Comparions between two groups withMNPQ, EPQ,EMBU and CSQ, were performed by Student’s t test. Spearman’scoefficient was used to explore correlations between MNPQ with EysenckPersonality, Parenting Rearing Style, Coping Style. Level of statisticalsignificance is0.05.The main results1. The degree of personality in the68patients examined was broadlydistributed across the range of scores of the MNPQ. Although their mean scoreson MNPQ is19.76and61patients (89.7%) have greater than or equal to15.Their mean age is24.38years old,28patients (40.1%) ages are21-23years old.Their mean age at onset was17years,36patients (52.9%) at onset are15-19years.48patients (70.6%) have a degree of undergraduate.2. In the68patients, the scores of MNPQ were compared between the basicfactors. Significant differences concerned their relatives with mental illness andpsychological treatment (P<0.05), no significant differences concerned sex, marriage, residence, height, weight, occupation, duration, drug treatment(P>0.05).3. There are significant differences that concern MNPQ,EPQ,EMBU,CSQ, between the two groups (P <0.05).4. The scores on the MNPQ were positive significantly correlated withN-with the neurotic, the father overprotection and mother overprotection andexcessive interference, the preference, self-blame, fantasy (P <0.01).The main conclusionsThe most patients with OCD, especially the patients with serious symptoms, have typical MNP. Students of college, accounted for a large proportion of68patients,cannot be ignored. Characteristic of MNP is related to parental rearingpatterns, The MNP is positively related with the excessive protection of parentsand the preference of mothers. The mostly used coping styles of OCD patientsare blaming and fantasing, these immature coping styles are distinctly relatedwith the MNP. After learning the MNP of the OCD patients, it is very helpful forus to understand the symptoms of OCD patients, and we could make thediagnosis and treatment much closer to the right ones, meanwhile it canprovide guidances for the counseling of patients with OCD. In short, study onMNP is a big help to prevention, diagnosis and treatment in patients with OCD.
