Evaluation For The Clinical Utility Of Intra-operative Iodine-125 Seeds Implantation For Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer

Objective:To study the clinical efficacy of intra-operative implantation of iodine-125 seeds for unresectable pancreatic cancer.Method:A total of 28 pancreatic cancer patients from December 2012 to February 2014 who had lost the chance for surgery were retrospectively analyzed. They were all received intra-operative iodine-125 implantation,including 22 patients also received Roux-en-y anastomosis. Pain relieving, jaundice recovery, complication and median survival time were investigated after the surgery.Results:Abdominal pain was relieved in 91.7%(22/24) in a week, jaundice was recovered in 63.6%(14/22) with half descending, 19 patients had gastrointestinal function disorder, gastroplegia in 4 cases, they recovered smoothly in the end after treatment. 25 patients were in the follow-up study, the median survival time was(12.8±2.1) months.Conclusion:Intra-operative iodine-125 seeds implantation for unresectable pancreatic cancer is safe with few complication, also having goodclinical efficacy in pain relieving, jaundice recovery, extending survival time and improving the quality of life. It is worth popularizing.
