Objective : To evaluate the short-term effect of interventional closure in the treatment of patients with patent foramen ovale. Methods: There are 28 patients with migraine or nervous system lesions who were diagnosed with PFO in our hospital from May 2013 to November 2015. When discharged, the patients were traced regularly and re-examined by TCDs and TTE to evaluate the effect, observe the complication.in addition, both the Preoperative and Postoperative HIT-6 questionnaire were tested to evaluate the improvement of migraine,The data were analyzed by the above methods,we evaluate the effect of interventional closure of PFO.Results: 28 patients with migraine, including 2 patients with MA,26 patients with Mo A,were received the operation successfully, discharged smoothly. Patients after discharge were followed-up by outpatient service and telephone. The follow-up time sustained 30 d to 900 d,the postoperative scores of HIT-6 between 36 to 73( mean 51.25±10.71 points), compared with the preoperative scores(between 44 to 78, mean 63.36±8.01 points),the disability affected by migraine had significantly improved(P<0.05). 2 patients were MA, after the closure, postoperative scores of HIT-6 is lower than the preoperative scores, both less than 49 points, the disability affected by migraine had significantly improved; 26 patients were Mo A. after the closure, the scores of HIT-6(52.35±10.31 points), compared with the preoperative scores(62.96±8.18 points), the disability affected by migraine had significantly improved(P<0.05). 6 patients had neurological lesions(such as cerebral infarction, cerebral ischemia), the influence caused by migraine had not significantly improved(the HIT-6 scores from 67.33±7.94 to 51.50±14.20 points, P=0.082,P>0.05); 22 patients were no neurological change, the influence caused by migraine had significantly improved[the HIT-6 scores from preoperative 64.50(59.00-67.00) points to postoperative 51.18±9.97 points, P<0.05].There are 4 cases with complications, 1 cases of sinus bradycardia,1 case of shortness of breath, 2 cases of premature beat, after a period of symptomatic treatment, complications improved or disappeared. Conclusion: The closure of PFO with migraine and nervous system disease have an important effect to the patients with PFO. In spite of postoperative complications of some cases,it is safe as a whole. If the indications are clear, the closure could be operated. And interventional closure could be the first treatment to the PFO with migraine and cryptogenic stroke.
