BackgroundAcute leukemia (AL)is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, with chemotherapy being the main treatment. Both the disease and chemotherapy have bad effects on the patients’ quality of life. AL nursing care naturally takes on the form of nursing routines which are made by hospitals. Function is the basis of activities. Patients in various functions showing different clinical manifestations and self-care abilities lead to differences in nursing care, which cannot be reflected by existing nursing routines to meet patients’ individual needs. Therefore, function evaluation is important for providing individual nursing care. The study picks off functions related with AL from the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health and create standard nursing care for AL inpatients in various functions using Nursing Interventions Classification.ObjectiveTo identify the nursing interventions/activities for acute leukemia inpatients in various functions based on Nursing Interventions Classification and the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health, and to evaluate the effect of the nursing program on the quality of life, complication and anxiety-depression for acute leukemia inpatients.MethodsThe first part with three phases:the first two phases were carried out through literature analysis and retrieval, clinical follow-up observation, semi-interview to identify related interventions/activities and functions and the third phase consisted of Delphi technique for matching interventions/activities with functions. The second part: A total of 90 cases of acute leukemia inpatients were selected into control group and experimental group according to the order of admission time points,45 cases, respectively. Patients in the control group were given conventional nursing intervention, while patients in the experimental group were given individualized and comprehensive nursing programs according to their blood counts and complications.Results1. The questionnaire return-ratio of two rounds was 92.90% and 94.59% respectively; authoritative coefficient was 0.808 and 0.818; Kendall’s W was 0.4423 and 0.4617(p<0.05).2. Through the Delphi technique 20 interventions and 349 activities with acute leukemia were obtained.3. The scores of QOL in the experimental group were higher than control group, the scores of HAD and complication were lower than control group after intervention, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).ConclusionThe enthusiasm, authority and concordance of the experts were high. The preliminarily established nursing interventions and activities could better meet the needs of the patients with Acute Leukemia, and were easy to communicate and convenient to guide the clinical nursing practice. The application of nursing program based on blood counts is helpful to prevent the complication, anxiety-depression and improve the quality of life.
