Purpose:To investigate the possibility of establishing the SD rats model with OLK by a new method and the expression of DCs in the model. Methods : SD rats were divided into three groups: the normal control group, the brushing 4NQO group and the drinking 4NQO group. The levels of CD1 a and CD11 c,which were the surface characteristic symbols of immature and mature DCs in oral mucosal tissues of SD rat models, were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results:After the treatments, OLK models were established successfully. Compared to the normal control group, the levels of CD1 a and CD11 c in oral mucosal tissues were significantly higher in the treated groups(P<0.01).Conclusion:Establishing oral leukoplakia model of Sprague-Dawley rats by brushing4 NQO is faster than by drinking 4NQO, while drinking 4NQO is more stable. In oral mucosal tissues, DCs participate in the process of occurrence and development of OLK.
