Objectives:The study aims to understand the level of the post-traumatic growth in patients with breast cancer surgery and to evaluate the intervention effect of synchronous cognitive therapy of companion on patients with breast cancer, and to make the influence clear that synchronous cognitive therapy of companion on patients with breast cancer.Methods:This was a random contrasted experimental design. During the period of September 2015 to March 2016,70 patients with breast cancer who met the inclusion criteria and their companions in the Henan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital were selected as study group by the methods of randomization, and they were randomly divided into two groups,35 in the control group,35 in the intervention group. Patients in the intervention group were received combined with synchronous cognitive therapy of companion, while those in the control group were given routine care. The patients admitted to hospital should fill the Post-traumatic Growth Inventory and Perceived Social Support Scale within 3 days and one month later. This study used t test, multiple linear regression and other methods to analysis the collected data by SPSS 22.0 software and evaluated the effectiveness of intervention.Results:1. In the investigation, the patients with the breast cancer surgery who had not received any psychological treatment were 95.7%,87.1% of patients thought they did not need to accept the psychological treatment. While 81.4% of their companions thought their patients did not have to accept psychotherapy,97.2% of patients thought they did not need to receive any psychological treatment.2. The level of post-traumatic growth of the patients were 53.44±9.79,top three of the experiences were respectively "I can better appreciate every day (3.31±1.05)", " I learned a great deal about how wonderful people are (3.10±1.13)","I have more compassion for others (3.0±0.997)".3. The scores in each dimension of the post-traumatic growth in the intervention group had quiet improvements after taking the synchronous cognitive therapy of companion, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). The patients’ post-traumatic growth scores in the intervention group were affected by family income, occupation and payment.4. The scores of the Perceived Social Support Scale of the patients in the intervention group had quiet improvements after taking the synchronous cognitive therapy of companion, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). The scores came from the family support had a correlation with the patient’s "family income" and "whether the patient in the job"5. The patients’ post-traumatic growth total scores after their accepting the synchronous cognitive therapy of companion were positively correlated with the scores of the Perceived Social Support Scale(P<0.05)Conclusions:1. The patients with breast cancer need timely, multiple psychological supports. And their companions also need psychological counseling. And the nurses need to guide companions the correct and continuous psychological support to provide for patients.2. The post-traumatic growth in patients was affected by the support system, and the synchronous cognitive therapy of companion can improve the patients’ perception of social support to promote their post-traumatic growth.3. The synchronous cognitive therapy of companion can improve their perception of social support degree and promote post-traumatic growth in patients. It is a feasible, effective intervention measures.
