ObjectiveInsomnia is one of the common clinical diseases and sleep disorders are the main manifestations of insomnia. Actively treating of sleep disorders can significantly improve the patient’s work and quality of life. This study in order to observe the scraping therapy before and after the treatment of patients with insomnia symptoms, changes of sleep parameters and to investigate the scraping treatment clinical feasibility and efficiency of the sleep disorder through scraping the Heart Channel, Pericardial Channel and Bladder Channel. So that we can standardize the simple and effective treatment method that is applied in clinic and in the field of family health promotion.MethodsThis study base on the principle of evidence-based medicine and clinical epidemiology/DME and study objects are met the inclusion criteria of the study and applies clinical randomized controlled study methods. We identify insomnia patients who had four common TCM syndrome types of "Phlegm-Heat disturbance of the heart", "Yin-Deficiency and Fire-Hyperactivity", "Liver-fire Disturbance" and use treatment of scraping therapy to observe and evaluate the therapeutic effect. Selecting acupuncture treatment of insomnia as contrast control group, using clinical samples randomized controlled study, observed scraping and acupuncture therapy for insomnia patients before and after the intervention and recorded the changes in sleeping of the patients. The study use PSQI score as observation indicators of insomnia curative effect and analyse symptoms improvment. Five internal organs as the core of TCM physiology that heart is in charge of sprit, sleeping is mainly associated with heart. At the same time, the five internal organs relates to five emotions and the bladder channel has all the back Shu Points of the organs, so the treatment were scraping only hand Shaoyin heart meridian, hand Jue Yin pericardium meridian on hand skin and scraping foot Taiyang bladder meridian line on back of body surface skin mainly. The control group used conventional acupuncture treatment of insomnia, selecting acupoints of Shenmen, Neiguan, Baihui and Anmian, adding or lessing acupoints according to individual patient’s syndrome. The treatment times of the both observation groups were the same:2-3 treatment a week, every 1-2 other days for a treatment, a total of 10 treatment and consolidated data after the treatment efficacy evaluation.ResultsScraping group and acupuncture group can effectively improve the symptoms of insomnia patients, the PSQI scores, fall asleep latency, asleep time, sleep efficiency were improved. Indicators of the two groups of patients before and after treatment were compared respectively and the difference has statistical significance (P< 0.01); but after treatment, PSQI scores, fall asleep latency, sleep time, sleep efficiency between two groups are compared with no significant difference (P> 0.05), which illustrates that two methods in improving the symptoms of insomnia patients have no significant difference. Although two methods can effectively improve insomnia status, from the operation and treatment requirements perspective, scraping is more convenient and obtain more patients acceptance, furthermore, because of the non invasive accepted by more patients, it is beneficial and easy to popularization in the family. So scraping therapy is deserving of promotion.ConclusionIn this study, scraping and acupuncture can effectively improve sleep quality in patients with insomnia. But scraping operation is simple, convenient and safe, operation can be conducted at home and is non-invasive and painless, so the patient acceptance is higher. Therefore, scraping treatment for insomnia is worth promoting in public.
