Kidney Transplantation Of Deceased Donation In China:Current Status And A Initial Report (2010-2013)

Objectives:The first aim is to analysis the current status of deceased kidney transplantation in China. Then compare the difference of short-term outcome of kidney transplant between donation after cardiac death (DCD) and donation after brain death (DBD) and analyze the impact factors.Methods:Retrospectively study the clinical information of the 2481 cases who suffered DCD or DBD kidney transplantation registered in Chinese Scientific Registry of Kidney Transplantation(CSRKT)from January,2010 to December 2013.The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to estimates of patient survival and graft survival,the Cox regression model was used to analysis the risk factors for patient mortality and graft failure, and the logistic regression model was used to analysis the risk factors for delayed graft function(DGF).Results:The number of deceased kidney transplantation increased rapidly every year, and the top three provinces for deceased kidney transplantation in China are Guangdong Province, Zhejiang Province and Hubei Province. The distribution shows the Southeast Region is better than the Northwest Region. The top three kidney transplant centers are the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yet-sen Uuniversity, First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejing University School of Medicine and First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. To be Male and warm ischemia time(WIT)≥8min were the independent risk factor for DGF. Age of recipients≥60years and DGF were the independent risk factor for patient mortality while DGF was the only independent risk factor for graft failure. Though DCD group had a lower median estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)(69.9mL/(min*1.73^2))at the time of 180 days post-transplantation, the patient survival and graft survival had no significant difference between DCD group and DBD group(P>0.05).Conclusions:Deceased kidney transplantation in China has been successfully carried out and increase rapidly. Compared with DBD kidney transplantation, DCD kidney transplantation has a similar short-term outcome, it’s a good way to solve the shortage of organs.
